Laura Linney was one of the most renowned American actors in recent history. Her strong and vulnerable roles have made her a household famous. Her father was a renowned playwright, but Linney was raised as an only child by a single mom and nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was first at Brown University then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career after her graduation after which she made her debut on television the following year. She has been featured on a number of stages, films and television programs since. She's been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her career. However, in spite of numerous awards, theatre has remained her primary passion and she is still appearing in stage and screen.
