Beautiful pics of Tamara Day and Sarah Stiles feet & legs
One baby was strapped on my back as the other crawled in the playground. I worked 12 hour days over months of sanding, and removing wallpaper, while carrying one kid. Ha! The home was beginning to appear nice, however there were a few things left. For this project I had planned to shell out a substantial amount of time and money shopping for my dream home. In order to stay within my budget, I began going to estate sales with my three sons to find diamonds in the rough. Our routine for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through garage sales, buying old and new pieces as well as spending the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. It was a bit like the picture below... This is when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. After our home was fully decorated, I couldn't stop! There was a place on the market in town in which I sold my items. Eventually I had more pieces that I could decide how to use them and outgrew the space. Open houses were held at my house where 1 thousand people would visit over a weekend, and visitors could buy anything from the first level. Growing Days is the result from this. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our sweet family as well. In some ways, I was able to find the perfect balance between being a mum as well as starting my own company. Growing Days seemed like the best combination. In 2013, my lovely daughter Nora came along our 4th baby. My company was doing well however I needed a break. I took a break from vintage furniture to spend more quality time with my kids. The time was right. But after a short time, my phone began to ring. I was getting calls from people needing help with their interior decorating and home remodeling. The majority of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. I started taking on some clients one at a time taking my time but it didn't take time before I was running several accounts, and I was operating a complete home renovation business. If you'd told me that my business would be an idea for the DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. When I look back, it still makes me smile.
