Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her career began with Broadway career with musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceedings in America for more than a century. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
